2012 - A fresh start

So, its the start of a new year!

Two important facts I would like to bring to your attention.

1.) Due to cricket fixtures changing, the Wednesday club meeting will be cancelled for the rest of the term as we discussed. This was a majority vote between members as most are not available on other days. We will resume in our usual time slot next term. You are more than welcome to attend the meetings on Tuesday!

2.) New members are welcome to join us from Tuesdays from 2pm-3pm. Classes will resume as per normal from the 24th of January. You do not need to bring your camera along. There is no class fee, but you are encouraged to bring along a book and a pen if you want to make ay notes.

Hope I see everybody there! The more the merrier!

Hi guys!

Competition 4 is up and running. Our topic for this comp is:

Leading lines

Remember:
1.) Leading line should be clearly visible
2.) Line should 'lead' the eye through the photo
3.) If possible line should lead up to a subject
4.) If the leading line IS the subject, there should be VERY little to distract the eye

Competition 3

Hi guyz!

Competition 3 is also up and running in conjunction with competition 2. The topic for competition 3 is:

Minimalism

The guidelines you can use are: 

1.) Contrast using Textures and/or colours

2.) ONE clear subject
3.) Background - One colour, shape, texture, out of focus, etc.

3.) Rule of thirds

4.) Get in as close as possible

5.) Lighting to enhance contrast

6.) Try to use everyday objects

I have extended the due date for Competition 2 to the first week of next term. Competition 3 will be due in the second week of the term. This should give you enough time to find 2 decent photographs.
